About Palm Bay FL
The young city of Palm Bay is located just one hour southeast of Orlando. Located alongside the Indian River and next to the opening of Turkey Creek, the town features many opportunities for water fun and nature exploration. The city was incorporated in 1960, 35 years after residents of the area changed the name from Tillman to Palm Bay to better represent the beauty of the area. At the time of its incorporation, the town boasted less than 3,000 residents.
With the introduction of Scenic U.S. Route 1 in 1963, the town became a popular stopping point for travelers along the highway. From then on, the population began to steadily increase as businesses, hospitals, libraries, banks, and schools were added to the city. By 2006, the population had reached 100,000, and by 2010, Palm Bay had been an incorporated city for 50 years.
The area is a haven for those who enjoy the outdoors. The city provides a plethora of activities to enjoy. Residents can golf, ride their bikes, and enjoy the many walking trails that meander through the foliage that is abundant in the city. And for those who like to fish, Palm Bay has been called the “bass fishing capital of the world.” In addition, with quick access to Turkey Creek, people who live in Palm Bay have many water activities right at their fingertips.
Palm Bay is truly a treasure of Florida. It offers the best quality of life from unique scenery and abundant shopping, to endless outdoor entertainment. This city is sure to delight anyone who is lucky enough to make it their home.
