About Crestview FL
At 235 feet above sea level, the city of Crestview is one of the highest points in the state of Florida. “The Hub City,” as it is known by the locals, is the largest city and the county seat of Okaloosa County. The nickname came about due to the fact that Interstate 10, State Road 85, U.S. Highway 90, the CSX Railroad, and the Yellow River and Shoal River all converge somewhere in or around the city. Crestview is the fastest growing city in Florida, with residential developments, shopping, and land area to be developed.
The city was born when the railroad came to the panhandle of Florida in the late 1800’s. In 1915, Okaloosa County was formed by state legislature, and in 1916, Crestview was officially incorporated. The settlers who first established the city recognized the natural advantages offered by its central location.
The most notable feature of Crestview today is its strong and vibrant community. With a population of over 20,000, it boasts a thriving business district, a wide assortment of housing styles, great schools, and welcoming churches. It is a beautiful place to live, with Blackwater River state park to the north, and the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Whether one is looking for the connectedness of community, or the serene and solitary beauty of Florida’s natural landscape, Crestview is sure not to disappoint. Families and businesses alike will flourish in the Hub City, where industry, community, and the unique allure of Florida come together.
